What is a Hero?

Our new novel explores characters that may or may not be considered heroes. Think of real life or fantasy hero and list your description below.

Week of 9/26/2011

This week, we will begin using Cornell Notes.  All students in middle school will use notes in each of their content classes, and the AVID students will use them regularly for tutorial.  Our first set of notes will be on the elements of fiction - characters, setting, plot and theme.

After taking these notes, we will use them to help us understand our first story in the McDougall Littell Literature Book - "The Crush".  We will also complete a pre-reading journal entry on Moodle to get your thoughts on how first impressions can be changed.

In addition, we will continue with our Words of the Day and now our words will come from the stories that we are reading.

Homework during Summer Break???

This is my first official post on this blog. My plan is to create a blog for each of my classes so they can see what the class activities will be.  This will also be a helpful place for students to check for homework if they are absent.

So, see, teachers even have to do homework during Summer Break to get ready for the next school year!
